Showcase Sunday #8

Showcase Sunday is a weekly meme hosted by Books, Biscuits, and Tea, inspired by Pop Culture Junkie and The Story Siren. Its aim is to highlight our newest books or book related swag and to see what everyone else received for review, borrowed from libraries, bought in bookshops and downloaded onto eReaders each week.

Well, I can't say I wasn't excited for September - a lot of good books are coming out this month, and I bought way more than I should. Oh, well.

Origin, by Jessica Khoury
Archangel's Storm, by Nalini Singh
The Dark Light, by Sara Walsh

I finally got a copy of Origin - I've been dying to read this book. The setting is what attracts me most in this novel. I mean, come on! Amazon jungle! \o
Nalini Singh is an awesome writer, and I fell in love with her Guild Hunter series. Now, however, each book in the series is about a different angel, and I don't like that. The first three books were about Elena and Raphael, and I still wish she'd keep writing about them. I'm not overly enthusiastic about Archangel's Storm, but you never know!
The Dark Light sounds so good (also... hot cover).

And last, but totally not least, Tiger's Destiny, by Colleen Houck. Words cannot describe how excited I am to read this book. The Tiger's Curse series is fantastic, and I cannot wait to see what's going to happen in the fourth installment.

What about you? Leave me a link, or just tell me in the comments!

Showcase Sunday #7

Showcase Sunday is a weekly meme hosted by Books, Biscuits, and Tea, inspired by Pop Culture Junkie and The Story Siren. Its aim is to highlight our newest books or book related swag and to see what everyone else received for review, borrowed from libraries, bought in bookshops and downloaded onto eReaders each week.

I got some really good books this week, as well as... well, some not so good ones. Overall, I'm happy about everything that I got.

The Iron King, by Julie Kagawa
The Iron Daughter, by Julie Kagawa
The Iron Knight, by Julie Kagawa

Finally - finally! - I own the entire Iron Fey series. I read this series last year on my e-reader, and I always wanted to have physical copies of it. There was a bookstore here with all the books in stock, and I just couldn't pass this opportunity. I'm re-reading The Iron Daughter right now, and boy, let me tell you, this series is as good as I remembered!

The Iron Legends, by Julie Kagawa
Foretold, edited by Carrie Ryan
Vanquished, by Nancy Holder and Debbie Viguié

Two anthologies that I've been looking forward to for months now. The Iron Legends was pure perfection, but Foretold was a complete disappointment, unfortunately. I hope Vanquished will be as good as I'm hoping. I'm not a big fan of this trilogy, but Crusade was fantastic, so fingers crossed that this one will be good!

Over You, by Emma McLaughlin
Heaven, by Alexandra Adornetto
White Cat, by Holly Black

Over You sounds ridiculously cute, and I adore the cover. I really need some fluffly contemporary novel right now ^-^ I tried to read Heaven, since I enjoyed Halo and Hades, but I couldn't get past page 70. My taste in books must've changed a lot, because honestly, this book was awful. I've heard really good things about White Cat. Really hoping it'll live up to its hype!

So, that was all that I got this week. What about you guys? Tell me in the comments, or leave me a link to your post, and I'll check it out! :D

Showcase Sunday #6

Showcase Sunday is a weekly meme hosted by Books, Biscuits, and Tea, inspired by Pop Culture Junkie and The Story Siren. Its aim is to highlight our newest books or book related swag and to see what everyone else received for review, borrowed from libraries, bought in bookshops and downloaded onto eReaders each week.

This week was FANTASTIC in books. There's an event happening in Sao Paulo about books. It's like a BEA, but everybody can go, the books aren't free, and there aren't ARCs there. Kind of like a giant bookstore, where each publisher has its own stand and features. I went there on tuesday, and I freaked out. Seriously. I bought a lot of books, all of them in Portuguese:

Graceling, by Kristin Cashore
Starters, by Lissa Price
Wake, by Amanda Hocking
A Long, Long Sleep, by Anna Sheehan
Before I Fall, by Lauren Oliver
Pure, by Julianna Baggott

I know this doesn't exactly fit in this post, but I just thought I'd share a picture with you guys. You know Game of Thrones, right? Well... The Iron Throne was there, on the Game of Thrones' publisher's stand, and I sat on it. I sat on the Iron Throne! And I know this isn't a huge deal, not really, but for me, someone who loves the tv show and doesn't miss a single episode, it is. I felt like I really was on King's' Landing.

I also got something that's more book-related than the picture above. A necklace with the Hunger Games' mockingjay. A friend of mine bought it recently, and he sold it to me.

And then, to make matters worse (or better, I guess) I got some ebooks as well:

Innocent Darkness, by Suzanne Lazear
The Demigod Diaries, by Rick Riordan
The Treachery of Beautiful Things, by Ruth Frances Long

So, these are all the book-related things that I got this week. I can't wait to get started on these books, especially Innocent Darkness, since I've been craving for it to be released. The Demigod Diaries was a really cute anthology, featuring a Percy and Annabeth novella, some games, and a novella writen by Rick Riordan's son. It was plenty of fun, and very quick to read.
What about you guys? What did you get this week? Tell me in comments, or leave me a link, and I'll check it out!

Feature & Follow #3

Feature and Follow Friday is a meme, hosted by Parajunkee's View and Alison Can Read, that gives bloggers the opportunity to meet other bloggers, and gain followers :D

Q: What blogger inspires you? It can be any kind, it doesn't have to be a book blog.

Oh, well. Would it be ridiculous if I say I'm shy about this question? It's not a tough one, but still!
Someone who inspires me? There are a lot of bloggers who inspire me, but basically, there are two of them: The Story Siren (I used to follow this blog, and it was what inspired me to create A Whole Word in Pages in the first place - it was what gave me the push that I needed to put my reviews out there, in the open), and Sam, from Realm of Fiction. Sam was like, the first person who ever posted a comment on my blog, and I remember how excited I was when I saw it. I really like her blog, her reviews, and her writing style. :)

So, that's it. These are the bloggers that inspire me. What about you? Tell me in the comments, or leave me a link and I'll be happy to visit your Feature and Follow post!

Waiting on Wednesday #15

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating. This week, I'm anticipating:

Foretold: 14 Storis of Prophecy and Prediction
Publication date: August 28th 2012 by Delacorte Books for Young Readers.
Add it on Goodreads!

Richelle Mead, Lisa McMann, Michael Grant, Meg Cabot, Laini Taylor, and nine more of the hottest YA authors to hit the shelves explore the concepts of prophecy and prediction in this story collection edited by NYT bestselling author of The Forest of Hands and Teeth, Carrie Ryan.

Have you ever been tempted to look into the future? To challenge predictions? To question fate? It's human nature to wonder about life's twists and turns. But is the future already written—or do you have the power to alter it?

From fantastical prophecies to predictions of how the future will transpire, Foretold is a collection of stories about our universal fascination with life's unknowns and of what is yet to come as interpreted by 14 of young adult fiction's brightest stars.

I've been waiting for this book since December/2010, when a certain author - COUGH COUGH Richelle Mead COUGH COUGH - didn't write Dimitri and Rose going to Russia in Last Sacrifice. And I've been dying to get my hands on this story 'cause honestly, it's Dimitri and Rose, as in, the best couple in YA. And now this book is here and it's coming out in 13 days (yes I'm counting) and I'm in a mess, waiting for it to come out. Especially since they released a teaser and maybe, just maybe, there'll be a wedding. A wedding

So... that's what I'm so eagerly anticipating. What about you? What're you looking forward to this week? Leave me a link, or just tell in the comments!

Showcase Sunday #5

Showcase Sunday is a weekly meme hosted by Books, Biscuits, and Tea, inspired by Pop Culture Junkie and The Story Siren. Its aim is to highlight our newest books or book related swag and to see what everyone else received for review, borrowed from libraries, bought in bookshops and downloaded onto eReaders each week.

So, this week I got some really, really fantastic books. I think I got a little out of line, but that's fine. My birthday was tuesday, so I deserved it :P

Pushing the Limits, by Katie McGarry (finished copy)
Survive, by Alex Morel

From Netgalley:

The Lost Prince, by Julie Kagawa
Pushing the Limits, by Katie McGarry

A big thank you to Netgalley, and Harlequin, for providing me an E-arc of The Lost Prince and Pushing the Limits!
I sincerely have no words to express my love for Pushing the Limits. I read it this book, and it's simply the best contemporary novel I've ever read. I'll probably post my review on tuesday.
I also can't wait to read The Care and Feeding of Stray Vampires. I adore Molly Harper's Nice Girls series, and I'm sure I'll like this novel, too.
And I won't even get started on The Lost Prince. I can't wait to start reading this. I'm a big fan of Julie Kagawa, and her Iron Fey series, so this must be just as good!

What about you, what did you get this week? Leave me a link, or tell me in the comments!

Feature and Follow #2

Feature and Follow Friday is a meme, hosted by Parajunkee's View and Alison Can Read, that gives bloggers the opportunity to meet other bloggers, and gain followers :D

Q: Do your reading habits change based on your mood? Do you read a certain genre if you are feeling depressed or happy?

No, not really. I think I enjoy a book based on my mood. Like, if I'm depressed or heart-broken over some boy, I'll feel super bad if I read a romance novel, especially a contemporary one. If I'm happy, and I read the same book, I'm pretty sure I'll enjoy it more. However, I do pick my readings based on how I'm feeling, so this kind of situation is usually avoided :D

But tell me about you: do your reading habits change based on your mood? Answer in the comments, or leave me a link to your blog! :D

Waiting on Wednesday #14

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating. This week, I'm anticipating:

Origin, by Jessia Khoury
Publication date: September 4th 2012
Add it on Goodreads

Pia has grown up in a secret laboratory hidden deep in the Amazon rain forest. She was raised by a team of scientists who have created her to be the start of a new immortal race. But on the night of her seventeenth birthday, Pia discovers a hole in the electric fence that surrounds her sterile home—and sneaks outside the compound for the first time in her life.

Free in the jungle, Pia meets Eio, a boy from a nearby village. Together, they embark on a race against time to discover the truth about Pia’s origin—a truth with deadly consequences that will change their lives forever.

Origin is a beautifully told, shocking new way to look at an age-old desire: to live forever, no matter the cost. This is a supremely compelling debut novel that blends the awakening romance of Matched with the mystery and jungle conspiracy of Lost.

I'm so lame. So, so lame. You guys have no idea. When I first heard about this book, it looked good, and the cover was beautiful.. and then, when I read the synopsis like, two days ago, and I found out it's set in the Amazon jungle, my reaction was like this, I swear:

So yes, I'm basically looking forward to reading Origin - crazy to read it, actually - because of its setting. I mean, seriously, the Brazilian Amazon jungle? I just have to check that out. Also, the premise is very interesting :D

What about you? What are you guys looking forward to, this week? Tell me in the comments or leave me a link!

Showcase Sunday #4

Showcase Sunday is a weekly meme hosted by Books, Biscuits, and Tea, inspired by Pop Culture Junkie and The Story Siren. Its aim is to highlight our newest books or book related swag and to see what everyone else received for review, borrowed from libraries, bought in bookshops and downloaded onto eReaders each week.

I only got a couple of books this week, since my TBR pile is huge. Like, huuuuuuge.

Struck, by Jennifer Bosworth
Something Strange and Deadly, by Susan Dennard
The Assassin's Curse, by Cassandra Rose Clarke

Thank you to Netgalley and Angry Robot for sending me an E-ARC of this for review. I can't wait to dig into this book, it sounds fantastic!
I've seen mixed reviews of Struck on Goodreads, so I'm not sure I'll like it, but I'll give it a shot. The concept of a girl addicted to lightning sounds interesting.
Anyway, what did you guys get this week?

Feature and Follow Friday #1

Feature and Follow Friday is a meme, hosted by Parajunkee's View and Alison Can Read, that gives bloggers the opportunity to meet other bloggers, and gain followers :D
I've been wanting to participate for a while, but only got the courage to do so now.

Q: Summer Reading. What was your favorite book that you were REQUIRED to read when you were in school?

Well, this is an interesting question. My favorite book was, hands down, The Obedience Drug, by Pedro Bandeira. I just love the whole mystery that Pedro created, and though it's quite juvenile, it still manages to entertain me.

In an environment filled with mystery and suspense, five students - the Heads - face a macabreinternational plot: the sinister Doctor I.Q. intends to subjugate humanity to his evil designs by administeringa dangerous drug to the youth! And this drug is already being experimented on students from the best schools in São Paulo. Michael, the leader and idealizer of the most read about group of adolescents in Brazil, must take the lead in this electrifying fight! This is a job for the Heads: the inverse of the old, the opposite of the nerds!

What about you, what was your favorite book that you had to read when you were in school? Leave me a comment, or a link to your own Feature and Follow Friday post :D

I recently saw this on Dazzling Reads, and now I'm really looking forward to it. This novel sounds awesome and I love the cover - but the wait is so looooong... 8 months till it comes out. It'll be hard, but I can only hope it'll be worth it.

What about you, what are you antecipating this week? Leave me a link, or just tell me in the comments :D

Showcase Sunday #3

Showcase Sunday is a weekly meme hosted by Books, Biscuits, and Tea, inspired by Pop Culture Junkie and The Story Siren. Its aim is to highlight our newest books or book related swag and to see what everyone else received for review, borrowed from libraries, bought in bookshops and downloaded onto eReaders each week.

So, it's been a while since my last Showcase Sunday post, but to be honest, I wasn't in the mood. I did get a couple of great books this week, and I'm excited to share what I got with you :D

The Assassin and the Pirate Lord, by Sarah J. Maas (Throne of Glass #0.1)
The Assassin and the Desert, by Sarah J. Maas (Throne of Glass #0.2)
The Assassin and the Underworld, by Sarah J. Maas (Throne of Glass #0.3)
The Assassin and the Empire, by Sarah J. Maas (Throne of Glass #0.4)

Shadows Cast by Stars, by Catherine Knutsson
So Close to You, by Rachel Carter
For Darkness Shows the Stars, by Diana Peterfreund
Shadow and Bone, by Leigh Bardugo

Darkness Before Dawn, by J.A. London
The Golden Lily, by Richelle Mead
Something Like Normal, by Trish Doller
The Demon Catchers of Milan, by Kat Beyer (from Netgalley)

I really can't wait to read all these titles, especially the Throne of Glass novellas. I recently heard they were all out, and I had to read them. Hopefully I'll get to know the characters better before Throne of Glass comes out.
Unfortunately, I can't say I'm that excited to read The Golden Lily. Vampire Academy is one of my favorite series of all times, but Richelle Mead disappointed me in Bloodlines. The story was so... so boring, and I disliked Sydney as a main character. I really hope I'll like The Golden Lily better, but I'm not very optimistic.
Anyway, what did you get this week? :D

Waiting on Wednesday #12

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating. This week, I'm anticipating:

Throne of Glass, by Sarah J. Maas
Publication date: August 7th 2012
Add it on Goodreads

After serving out a year of hard labor in the salt mines of Endovier for her crimes, 18-year-old assassin Celaena Sardothien is dragged before the Crown Prince. Prince Dorian offers her her freedom on one condition: she must act as his champion in a competition to find a new royal assassin.

Her opponents are men—thieves and assassins and warriors from across the empire, each sponsored by a member of the kings council. If she beats her opponents in a series of eliminations, she’ll serve the kingdom for three years and then be granted her freedom.

Celaena finds her training sessions with the captain of the guard, Westfall, challenging and exhilirating. But she’s bored stiff by court life. Things get a little more interesting when the prince starts to show interest in her... but it’s the gruff Captain Westfall who seems to understand her best.

Then one of the other contestants turns up dead... quickly followed by another. Can Celaena figure out who the killer is before she becomes a victim? As the young assassin investigates, her search leads her to discover a greater destiny than she could possibly have imagined.

Words can't describe how freaking anxious I am to read Throne of Glass. I read the first and second chapters, and now that I saw how it's gonna be like, I'm even more impatient. This book just looks so good. Fantasy mixed with magic and a little romance thrown in the middle... what's not to love about that? ^-^ Fortunately, it's going to be published a few weeks from now, so I don't have to wait a lot of time. I've read a lot of good reviews about it, so hopefully I'll love it :D

What about you, what are you anticipating this week?

Tell me something tuesday #6

Tell me something Tuesday is a weekly meme, hosted by Cambria Hebert, in which she asks us something, and we post our answer. And the question of the week is:

If you could spend a day with a book character, who would it be and what would you do?

That's actually a very interesting question. I could spend a day with a lot of characters, but from all of them, I think I would have to choose Merit, from the Chicagoland Vampires series, by Chloe Neill. Merit is funny, smart, and snarky. Her point of view is always refreshing and I honestly couldn't choose another person but Mer.

She was attacked by a vampire on her university and saved by Ethan Sullivan, who turned her into one of their own. Mer is appointed as Sentinel of Cadogan House, and since book one, she's been struggling with her duties and her own emotions. She's grown so much since then, especially in Hard Bitten and Drink Deep. It's rare to see such a deep character development, both in the main character, and in the love interest, and Chloe Neil managed to write about both.

The tricky question here is the second one. What would I do with a vampire warrior who loves to eat?
I'd probably take Merit to the best restaurant in town, and after that, she could take me on a tour in Cadogan House (hopefully the Master, Ethan Sullivan, would be inside. Wouldn't it be great if I got the chance to talk to him?). I'm hoping she'd show me how to throw a few punches and sword-fighting moves, and we'd spare a little. Too much of a dream, but a girl has to try.

So that's my answer. If I had the chance to choose another character, that would be Jace, from The Mortal Instruments. Who wouldn't want to spend a day with him? Seriously.

What about you, what's your answer to this question? :D

Lover Unleashed, by J.R. Ward (Black Dagger Brotherhood) - In Portuguese

Waiting on Wednesday #10

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating. This week's choice is:

Mirage (Haven #2), by Kristi Cook
Publication date:  June 5th 2012
- Add it on Goodreads

Seventeen-year-old Violet McKenna is back for her senior year at Winterhaven, and thrilled to be with Aidan after a long summer apart. But when a violent and disturbing vision begins to haunt her, Violet suddenly feels unsure of everything: who to trust, if she is in danger, and—worst of all—whether she and Aidan are really meant to be together.

Alright, I'll just say it: This synopsis sucks. It's SO cheesy, especially this "whether she and Aidan are really meant to be together". However, I did enjoy the first boon, Haven, and I'm crazy to read this novel even with the awful summary. I love the cover, though, so I'm trying to focus on that. Either way, I can't wait for Mirage.
What about you? What're you waiting for, this week? :D

Revived, by Cat Patrick
Sweet Evil, by Wendy Higgins
Insurgent, by Veronica Roth

 Silence, by Michelle Sagara
When You Were Mine, by Rebecca Serle
Hemlock, by Katherine Peacock

City of Lost Souls, by Cassandra Clare
The Last Princess, by Galaxy Craze
Underworld, by Meg Cabot

It's official: May is my favorite month. Just look at all the books that got out this past week. City of Lost Souls, guys. City of Lost Souls. I waited a year to read this book, and now that I have, indeed, read it, I gotta wait two years for City of Heavenly Fire. When You Were Mine sounds adorable, and I love the cover. It's simple, but it gives us a hint of what the story will be like. However, as much as I'm excited to read Underworld, I gotta say I hate this cover. I don't know, the dress just didn't look well on that model.
What did you get this week?

Waiting on Wednesday #9

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating. This week's choice is:

Once Burned, by Jeaniene Frost (Night Prince #1)
Publication date: June 26th 2012 by Avon
- Add it on Goodreads

She's a mortal with dark powers...

After a tragic accident scarred her body and destroyed her dreams, Leila never imagined that the worst was still to come: terrifying powers that let her channel electricity and learn a person's darkest secrets through a single touch. Leila is doomed to a life of solitude...until creatures of the night kidnap her, forcing her to reach out with a telepathic distress call to the world's most infamous vampire...

He's the Prince of Night...

Vlad Tepesh inspired the greatest vampire legend of all—but whatever you do, don't call him Dracula. Vlad's ability to control fire makes him one of the most feared vampires in existence, but his enemies have found a new weapon against him—a beautiful mortal with powers to match his own. When Vlad and Leila meet, however, passion ignites between them, threatening to consume them both. It will take everything that they are to stop an enemy intent on bringing them down in flames.

Well, if you know me, then you're probably aware that I love Jeaniene Frost's books. Vlad is one of the most captivating characters in the Night Huntress series, and I've always been quite curious about his history. He is, after all, the most famous vampire in the world - Dracula himself. Jeaniene Frost is my favorite author, and honestly, my expectations are pretty high. I cannot wait to read Once Burned.
What are you waiting for this week? :D

In My Mailbox #11

In my mailbox is a weekly meme, hosted by Kristi, at The Story Siren, in which we share the books that we got this week.
- Clicking on the titles will take you to the book's Goodreads page.

Masque of Red Death, by Bethany Griffin
The Temptation, by Alisa Valdes
Unraveling, by Elizabeth Norris

Deadly Descendant, by Jenna Black
A Brush of Darkness, by Allison Pang
Welcome, Caller, This is Chloe, by Shelley Coriell (ARC)

A lot of fantastic books came out this week, including Masque of Red Death, The Temptation, Unraveling, and Deadly Descendant. They all look pretty good, especially The Unraveling. I read the first few chapters, and though I wasn't hooked, I think I'll enjoy the story. I'm particularly excited for Deadly Descendant. I've heard great things about where the series is headed.
A big thank you for Netgalley, for sending me Welcome, Caller, This is Chloe. This will be my next read. From the looks of it, it'll be cute :D
Anyway, I can't wait to read all these books. What did you get this book?

Tell me something tuesday #5

Tell me something Tuesday is a weekly meme, hosted by Cambria Hebert, in which she asks us something, and we post our answer. And the question of the week is:

Who are your book boyfriends?

Ok, a very simple question, and a very big answer. I could name 30 book boyfriends here because romance is what I read most. And there's always that hot guy in the story that makes you fall in love with him. But I managed to choose 5 of them, and a quote for each boy. So, here you go:

1. Will (Angelfire, by Courtney Allison Moulton)

Will is probably the most caring, sweet, gorgeous, and badass boy I've ever read about. I love his devotion to Ellie, the way he'd die to help her, how he'd rather be tortured than raise a hand against her. As you know, I'm a big fan of Will and Ellie, and of course he has to be on my list. Here's one of my favorite scenes:

I wiped at my face, choking on the taste of salt in my tears. “It still … it’s not fair. What if next time I’m with a boy I like?”
“I won’t be able to bear it.”
“What will it be, Will?” I asked, my voice rising as I fought my tears. “Are you going to storm in and claim me then, too?”
His jaw and lips hardened. His fist, resting on the counter, tightened until his knuckles turned white, as if the war that waged within him grew more violent and he was trapped in silence. His brow darkened and he shook his head, his eyes flashing bright, glued to mine.
“I’ve already claimed you,” he said, and grabbed my hand. He stood and yanked me into him, and his mouth crushed against mine as his other arm wrapped around my waist.
--- Wings of the Wicked, Chapter 18.

2. Ash (The Iron Fey series, by Julie Kagawa)

Yes, I'm Team Ash, and of course he's one of my book boyfriends. A dangerous, icy winter prince who can kill fiercely with his sword? And whose loyalty is so strong he'd do anything to protect who he loves? That is just the kind of character I fall in love with.

“You can’t leave. You swore you wouldn’t.”
Ash’s hands came to rest over mine, twining our fingers together. “Even if the world stands against you,” he murmured, bowing his head. “I promise.”
-- The Iron Queen, Chapter 21.

3. Crispin Russel a.k.a. Bones (Night Huntress series, by Jeaniene Frost)

Bones, Bones... shameless, badass, caring, sarcastic, and with a British accent. I really couldn't have asked for more. When I start talking about Bones to my friends, they think I'm crazy. After all, shouldn't I be repulsed by someone like him? Well... not really. His confident exterior was what drew me to him in the first place, and as the romance blossomed, his love and devotion to Cat made me fall head over heels in love with him. Also, Jeaniene Frost knows how to develop a character's personality. Both him and Cat changed so much in this series, and I love that. They really grew to trust each other, no matter the consequences.

“All right, ready. Bones is a vampire, [...] but who’s more powerful?”
“She is,” Bones replied at once.
[...]
“Are you okay with that?” I blurted, forgetting for a moment that we had an audience. [...]
Then Bones’s expression became serious, and he leaned forward to brush my hand.
“I’ve watched you barely escape death several times, and each instance killed me a little inside. They may be dormant now, but we have enemies both cunning and cruel. Knowing you possess the power to defeat most of them doesn’t threaten me, luv. It relieves me to my very core.” -
One Grave at a Time, Chapter 6.

4. Alex (Angel, by L.A. Weatherly)

Alex would be an exception to the rule. Sure, he's badass, gorgeous, etc etc etc... but his sweetness is what's most appealing about him, in my opinion. His relationship with Willow, unlike most couples in YA books, started because they had to deal with a harsh situation, and the only way was to work together. But just because they were working together "against their will" didn't mean they had to be rude to each other. Alex and Willow behaved nicely, like they were friends, and only after a couple of chapters did the author give us hints about their feelings... which, if you think about it, is awesome. How many times do you see a boy and a girl actually being nice to each other, and then falling in love? I

Emotion tightened Alex’s chest. Taking her head in his hands he kissed her deeply, his lips lingering on hers. “Willow, all I care about is that you’re you, and – and that you’re with me. That’s all that matters.”
“Really?” she whispered, her eyes bright with tears.
He laughed suddenly, smoothing her blonde hair from her face. “Hey, I’m the lucky one, don’t you know that? You are so – absolutely incredible. Everything about you.”
Willow swallowed. “I’m pretty lucky too, actually.” -
Angel, Chapter 14.

5. Owen (Elemental Assassin series, by Jennifer Estep)

I love Owen for many reasons, actually, but the most important one is because he accepts Gin for who she is. He loves her when she's dressed like a princess, and he loves her the same way when she's covered with blood, after killing someone. After Gin's harsh romantic experiences, I was relieved when Owen came in the picture. It's great how noble and caring he is, but when someone's about to hurt Gin or his sister, he kills the guy with everything he's got. And he's got a lot of fighting skills, let me assure you.

I know what you do, what kind of violence you’re capable of. But also, I know what kind of woman you are.”
His words startled me more than anything had in a long time. “And what kind of woman would that be?”
Owen stared at me. “Someone who’s passionate and full of life. Someone who’s funny and smart. But
mostly, someone who’ll do whatever the fuck it takes to protect the people she cares about. That’s what I like about you, Gin. That’s what I admire about you. That’s what draws me to you.” -
Venom, Chapter 31.

*Sigh*... So there you go. My book boyfriends <3 I wanted to mention Dimitri Belikov and Ethan Sullivan,  but I don't want this post to be so huge. With the quotes and all, it's already bigger than I had imagined.
Who are your book boyfriends? ^-^
